Sage Health Centre’s dedicated staff offer 24 hour assurance for our clients; our medical director, clinical director and counsellors are well versed in abstinence based addictions modalities and concurrent conditions. Our agency manager, support staff, kitchen staff, maintenance and housekeeping staff have a passion for supporting clients in their addiction recovery.
Additional medical services include referral to massage therapists, chiropractors, physiotherapists or dentists by appointment if required.
Rob Baker
Medical Director
Dr. Rob Baker is a duly qualified physician licensed to practice medicine in BC since 1980; he is certified by the International Society of Addiction Medicine (I.S.A.M.) as well as the Canadian Society of Addiction Medicine (C.S.A.M.) and has completed multiple post-graduate training programs in the field of Addiction Medicine. He is a recognized expert in the field of chemical dependency; he has provided expert testimony in various inquiries and courts of law as well as lectured at numerous addictions related seminars.
Dr. Baker is an active member of the medical staff at the Royal Inland Hospital. He provides addiction medical services to Sage Health Centre, Phoenix Centre Detox Unit and Kamloops Community Mental Health and Substance Use as well as other agencies. In his private practice, Dr. Baker conducts Independent Medical Evaluations and oversees Arbutus Work Solutions which medical monitoring program as required by corporations, unions and other professional bodies. Additional in house medical services include medical assessment, testing/treatment.
Christopher Hum
Clinical Director
Chris has worked in the field of addictions directly and indirectly since 2012. After spending eight years researching gambling disorder therapies and prevention tactics, Chris moved into the field of addictions counsellor for substance use disorder, joining the Sage Health Centre team in 2021. After obtaining a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology and a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) designation, Chris’ past supervisory, managerial, and leadership experience led him to the role of Clinical Director in September 2023.
Chris is passionate about supporting our clients in their mental health and addiction journey and that is reflected in the level of care he shows to each on an individual level. Chris specializes in client-centered therapeutic modalities, group and individual psychotherapy, concurrent mental health disorders, 12-Step and SMART recovery programs, and psychoeducation facilitation and programming. Chris practices within a trauma-informed, and culturally responsive and socially just (CRSJ) lens; as such, his personal values are to ensure that Sage Health Centre remains a safe space for all who attend.

Michael Lowes
Clinical Administrator
As clinical administrator, Michael oversees client referrals, admissions and discharge planning. Michael has an educational and personal interest in working with diverse populations and prides himself on providing compassionate care and a seamless transition from the admission process through our clients’ discharge and continuing care planning. Michael earned a Bachelor of Arts Honours degree in psychology (BA); he has a strong theoretical foundation that he applies in the areas of mental health and addiction.

Patricia Sekutowska
Addiction Counsellor
Patricia is inspired by and passionate about the profound changes that recovery can bring to people’s lives. She integrates her lived experience and formal education to support clients through a decolonizing lens. Patricia holds a Bachelor of Social Work degree and an Addiction Counselling Certificate; she is certified through the CACCF as both an International Certified Drug and Alcohol Counsellor and a Canadian Certified Addiction Counsellor. She is well-versed in 12-step and mindfulness-based recovery approaches. Her professional experience includes supporting women and youth in substance use treatment, working with marginalized communities in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside, and supporting individuals impacted by the criminal legal system through a transformative justice and abolition framework.
Adam Szpak
Addiction Counsellor
Adam has been working in the field of Social Work for 20 years. He holds a Bachelor of Social Work, which he obtained through UCC, and a Masters of Social Work from Dalhousie University. Adam is passionate about supporting individuals in their recovery journey from addictions and is a strong believer in the 12-Step and SMART programs. He spent the past 20 years employed in health care, and now is excited to provide counselling and group facilitation in a more clinical setting at Sage Health Centre.
Lorne Forseille
Addiction Counsellor
Lorne has over 30 years experience working with individuals where substance use has led them to be in conflict with the law. Inspiration has come witnessing and assisting these individuals make positive changes, overcome their barriers in life, and addressing addictions that have led to negative outcomes. Lorne has facilitated programs such as anger management, substance abuse management, and relationship violence. In addition, Lorne has completed numerous workshops in relation to addictions, wellness and communication strategies. Lorne has a Bachelors of Art degree in Criminology with a minor in Psychology.
Netanya Peters
Addiction Counsellor
Netanya joins our team with a background in crisis management, mental health promotion, and suicide prevention. As a certified SMART facilitator and believer of the 12 step and Recovery Dharma modalities, Netanya is passionate about supporting people working through addiction; leading with the value that connection is a crucial part of recovery. Netanya conducts her counselling and group facilitation through the principles of humility, transparency, empathy, and curiosity. She is person-centered in her approach and actively advocates for decolonizing traditional western practices through allyship. Netanya earned her Bachelor of Social Work degree (BSW) through Thompson Rivers University (TRU) in 2024.
Taryn Coleman
Addiction Counsellor
Taryn joins our team with professional experience working with youth facing addiction, mental health challenges, and family dysfunction in residential settings. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Honours degree in Psychology and Sociology from Thompson Rivers University, and has further enhanced her expertise by completing a range of workshops in mental health first aid, trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, and de-escalation training. Taryn’s passion lies in supporting individuals as they navigate mental health challenges and develop balanced, healthy lifestyles. She is committed to helping her clients create personalized recovery plans that empower them to overcome obstacles and achieve lasting, positive change. With a client-centered and empathetic approach, Taryn builds strong, trusting relationships and creates a safe environment where individuals feel heard and understood. She believes in the power of resilience and works alongside her clients to unlock their potential for growth and recovery.

Support Manager
Gary’s experience includes HR responsibilities while working at Kamloops Airport. He left that employ and completed a Human Services Diploma at TRU. Gary has spent 6 years working as a support worker and currently oversees all aspects of our support staff. He brings his combined experience to staff and clients; supporting, training, and problem solving.
Anita Carr
Client Support Administrator
Anita’s education and experience includes extensive knowledge in abstinence based 12 step modalities and education as a Long Term Care Aide. Her training includes medication management and at Sage, she is assistant to our medical staff, and assists the support team with admissions, step reviews, medication dispensing, and discharges.

Dina is a Reiki Master and E-RYT 500hr trauma informed yoga teacher, whose heart forward, compassionate energy flows freely in all that she offers. After 30 years in the wellness/fitness industry, yoga found her at 45 years old, the following decade has opened her heart to more sustainable modalities of growth and true well being.

Dean comes to us from Blackwell Dairy and is a “handy man”, bar none. He has a strong work ethic and can fix almost anything.
